What is Kindergarten?

ACCCK runs a three and a four year old funded kindergarten program which are integrated within our long day care programs and are run in the Dolphin room and the Kindergarten room. The programs run for 7.5 hours per day 4 days per week, both running for 40 weeks per year, the programs run from 8.30am to 4.45pm.

The benefits of two years of a Kindergarten Program:
Between the ages of three and five, children experience a critical period in development. Attending two years of a funded kindergarten program will enable a child to develop self-regulation skills that will help them to manage their emotions and behavior, build resilience and persistence, form positive relationships, and focus their attention. These skills are vital in enabling children to transition into school and help navigate and adapt to the numerous changes they are likely to encounter in their future.

ACCCK kindergarten programs have an emphasis on a play orientated approach to learning to suit the developmental level of the individual children. In a kindergarten program, children use play to build their language skills and to learn number and pattern recognition. They also learn how to get along with others, share, listen, and manage their emotions. Teachers and educators support children to become curious, creative, and confident about learning. When children learn about the world through play, it gives them an opportunity to use their imagination and learn and practice important skills, such as problem solving.

Attwood Child Care Centre and Kindergart
en offers extra curriculums within its programs, including a music and movement session (this is provided at a small additional cost), a responsible pet program and an external excursion each year eg: Traffic school, Children’s Museum, Werribee Zoo and a range of inclusions.
